There was a man with some spices
He seasoned his food
And cooked it slowly,
He hoped it would not be undone,
And he prayed fear would not ruin this meal.
He raised his voice to the sky
And prayed and marched in peace,
And he whispered as Heaven sang ...
Heaven said, "Preach on,
And your dream will unfurl."
Death visited this holy man
And a huge dark cloud engulfed the sky
And he never tasted his meal,
But others said it was a tasty thing.
Never before had a man
Spoke like this about freedom
Although his dream is still undone.

Yes, his "dream" is still undone!
What a wonderful write!

This is excellent.

I would suggest that rather than breaking this up into stanza's, it would have more impact as one continuous verse.

I wouldn't change a word. It is lovely and insightful.
