 All Keyed Up
(Inspired by a Billy Taylor song “I’m a Lover”)
Dan Johnson
© April, 2011

At this moment I’m listening to Billy Taylor
Pound out “I’m a lover” I can see the keys
Sparkle with succinct syncopation, a happy tune
About a guy living in anticipation…of his dream,
But don’t we, don’t we, don’t we all?
We wait for the right moment,
We listen, ‘cause we want to own it,
When the time is right,
Ebony and ivory are locked up tight,
So sweet baby, tonight “I’m a lover,”
And the time, this time, our time for lovin’ is oh so right.

Keying in Amour, maybe? The title you have works with this poem, but you asked, and I kinda like my version better, but of course I would, huh? Hah~ And yes, we do all wait for that right moment, sometimes we recognize, sometimes not.
