Yesterday

Peering through the looking glass
Towards tomorrow and the past
Yesterday’s teacher, tomorrow’s lesson
Mirrors cast my own reflection

Reading lines of yesterday’s paper
Couldn’t believe the old mans caper
Sad songs singing about yesterday’s news
Worry not, for yesterday’s blues

Straight line in yesterday’s rocket
Hand on my heart and I feel the locket
My tears are born from the rhythm of my heart
And echoed tears and as I depart

My lingering light, in heavens bound
Mystic rivers gather round
Frozen footsteps among the sands of time
Passage written in my rhyme

Marvel at the stars tonight
Mystic River, cast your light
Fallen, hear my broken heart
Once I was, now I depart

Nicely written, Darryn.

This can be taken a couple of ways. Saying goodbye to yesterday, or saying goodbye . . . Period.

Either way I enjoyed the style and cadence of the poem and I thought you rhymed it expertly. A good read.
