So what if I am in a wheelchair and can't walk:
You certainly won't hear ME cry, whine, or balk!!
I am a *PERSON*, have feelings, wants, and such;
When you tease or stare, I DON'T like that much!
Just because I can't talk, don't call me dumb....
Treat me NICELY, that's MY rule of thumb!!
I can't help it if I was born with this brain damage;
Despite the disabilities I face, I still do manage!!
I can talk (SOME), and I can let my feelings show;
I know a lot more than *you* people seem to know!!
Sure, I may need a lot of help, but that is okay..
I really don't mind; but what I enjoy most is to play!!
I love to giggle, I love to laugh, and I love noise--
But what I REALLY like is flirting with all the boys!!
So what if I'm "handicapped"..that's NOT all of me!!
Treat me like ev'ryone else; show me a little dignity!!

Thank you for posting this, it is beautful and speaks so much truth! It reminds me of someone very close to my heart, and he is one of the strongest men I know! His strength has guided me through many dark tunnels!
