Spent an impromptu night in the little cabin in the woods on Friday night....the peepers' lullaby was enchanting!

Clouds veil the stars; the night air is muggy and hot.
An open window inhales nature’s searing breath
Into a room already agonizingly stifling!
There in the darkness she lays quietly,
Eyes wide-open, moisture gleaming on her skin.
A playful smile tugs at the corners of her mouth…
She’s blissfully awaiting the peepers’ lullaby!
At first, they whistle softly to each other,
Rehearsing the notes, their chorus blending
Into melodious strains of nature’s purest songs!
At last, the enchanting lullaby fills the air
Soaring oer’ cattails and lofty blades of grass
Through the window where now a gentle breeze
Coaxes the gossamer drapes into a graceful dance!
As the splendid crescendo rises; her delight intensifies!
Hugging her pillow, sighing as the warm breeze
Caresses droplets of moisture on her naked body
Sending delicious tingles up and down her spine,
She slowly drifts away, as the peepers lullaby
Lures her into the realm of dreamless slumber!

Such a serene way to live in the moment.
Makes me think of Thoreau's time in seclusion.

Very very nice. You have a way of putting the reader right into the sensations, thoughts and the bucolic. Works each time.
And I am feeling that you are growing as a writer as well. More elements present, an new combining of nature, the senses and the sensual of it and your self.
That has to be good.

I always looked forward to spring at the camp for after hunting season ended we didn't seem to get there again till spring. It was always a pleasure to hear the sounds of the great outdoors without the noise pollution of the city.
Great job Anna

Lovely Anna, your word paintings create multiple images in my mind. She could be 2 or 62 and I could be her daddy, or possibly her lover. UMMM GOOD! Thanks Dick

I can relate, although it has been many, many years, but to lay there and listen to the crickets, et al, serenading you is a memory you won't forget.
