Was it a Sign or a Dream

I had a dream or so I thought,
of a journey to a distant path.
The earth spiraled upward, steep and hard,
the forest stood naked of forage,
it seemed vast, standing tall.

Around the next curve
I saw hundreds of owls perched,
snowy white kissed with the color of earth,
one thought raced through my head.
This is a sign … heed all,
thing will change within the next snow fall.

Then I saw hundreds of pelican flocked below
they beaks were open but empty for show.
I then peered over the cliff's edge of insist,
below was the ocean with sprays of mist.

It left me to wonder why the hunger, why the fear,
when the ocean of salvation was so near?

White against earth……salvation near.

What did it mean?

Was it a sign or just a dream?

Wonderful write! Sometimes I forget my dreams, by the time I get to a piece of paper, Whoosh...gone! Then there are others that follow us around all day. Really weird right? Really great imagery, and you captured the feeling well we all have had trying to figure out what the heck does it all mean?

It's interesting that you saw pelicans in your dream.

"The pelican of the Middle Ages was thought to pierce herself in her breast in order to feed her blood to her young. Alternate stories tell of how the pelican would kill her young in a fit of pique, and then pierce her breast in later remorse. The blood thus brought forth, falling on the dead chicks, brought them back to life.

Generally, depictions of the pelican are meant to indicate Christ the Saviour who shed his blood in a like manner."

Years ago I had a similar experience when I was given a Peyote button while in Washington.
