With the recent events with the vandalism of our home along with the surgery of Jan’s son JD and my ongoing treatments for cancer, I dug deep into my vault of poems and pulled this one out that I wrote over three years ago just to remind me who to call in times like these…(The attached pic is an example of the vandalism that occurred this week.

Faith…Hope & Charity

The day was cold and the night dark and long.

I needed reassurance so I picked up the phone.

Burdened was I, sorely confused as I dialed Jeremiah 33:3.

(“Call unto me, and I will answer thee…”)

I silently prayed as the phone rang and rang to the tune “Set Free”

Then came a voice on the other end that was soft and low.

I listened with purpose as I heard the voice on the other end say

“Hi, this is Hope, how can I help you this day”?

I spoke before I realized and heard myself quietly say.

“I am lost and confused; can you help me find my way”?

“Why most gladly, most gladly, the gentle voice then replied.

‘Please hold one moment for Faith as I am sure that she can ease your mind”

I held for a minute or maybe two and then came an angelic voice as if right on cue.

“Hello, this is Faith the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, now tell me why you feel the way you do.”

Minutes turned to hours as I slowly, and unequivocally unburdened my soul.

I told Faith of all my worries and I repented my stinging doubt on whole.

She listened intently as I told her of the battle; of that long battle to keep darkness at bay.

And she told me to worry no more that I had most assuredly reached the Lord and that He was sending Charity my way.

I then thanked her for her time and told her that through Hope and Faith that the Lord for me has now made a way.

It was then in the background I heard a voice like unto thunder say

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” I then hung up the phone knowing that soon Charity would come once again and I would no longer feel so helpless and alone this day.

Vandals need be dealt with and swiftly. NOTHING funny about damaging other people's property; happens way too often! Hope things settle down for you soon, Allen; you're ever in my thoughts and prayers!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :(
