Corn Nuts and a Moon Pie

Love is more often about the little things that become the great blessings in life.

I sit at my paper-strewn desk
listening to the percolating chatter
filtering through the office.
The black, multi-button phones beep
annoyingly, juxtaposed with
the musical and sometimes comical,
sounds of personal mobile devices.
Doors open and close,
chairs roll across plastic mats.
The copy machine motor whirs
while paper shoots into trays
and the fax machine shouts out
a new arrival of
papered communication.

Stress builds, exhaustion sets in.
Five o’clock is the ultimate goal of all.
I bid my time, shuffling papers,
stapling, stroking keys, filing,
a smile spread across my face.
Soon I join the man
who last night brought me
a bag of Corn Nuts and a Moon Pie
because he read my posting on Facebook.
Simple, crazy combination of snack foods
that speak of his attention to detail,
his constant goal of pleasing me,
his knowledge that it’s the little things
that lead to the big things
in a woman’s heart.

Work, it does end,
but love,
it’s a lifetime commitment,
occasionally enhanced
by Corn Nuts,
a Moon Pie,
and a kiss
that speaks of
forever.

LEYSA YOU HAVE GOT THE KEY!...FOR, HOW CAN EIGHT HOURS A DAY, MONDAY THRU FRIDAY COMPARE, IN ANY WAY, TO A LIFETIME OF HAPPINESS WITH SOMEONE YOU LOVE AND THAT LOVES YOU. WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE THAT HIS WISDOM, EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE...SHINES THROUGH SO BEAUTIFULLY. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

When a Moon Pie doesn't work, everything else is up for grabs. I think I've found a new friend.

My husband, dear, sweet man, brings me gifts often. My favorites are the small ones that speak of how he listens to me, pays attention ... like a mention on Facebook of how much I like Corn Nuts and Moon Pies. I love that he cares about me in such sweet, kind ways! I am blessed! Thanks for reading!

You really captured something here, for it is not always about the grand gestures we make to the people we care about but the little things that we or they do that make us love themt he most.

Sweet write. Love the philosophy and sentiments; I can relate. Thank you, Leysa. Love and best wishes,
