Making sure she knows you love her involves more than just saying it. You must show her, by showering her with compliments and the occasional nice little surprise.

TARNISHED ARMOR

He was her knight in shining armor,
the rainbow following her storm,
but now the shine had dulled,
and the armor had lost it’s form.

For a time, before they met
he had wondered, was all this worth it?”
But, since the time of their first date,
their lives had been near perfect.

Somehow things had changed,
they just didn’t feel as close,
she seemed withdrawn & distant,
had she given up the ghost?

She said that she still loved him,
he felt certain she still cared,
things seemed to have taken a turn
yet he didn’t know quite where.

She was a very special lady
who welcomed his compliments.
They did most everything together,
but he occasionally became complacent

He could be self-absorbed,
his concentration sometimes wavered.
She desired more of his attention,
hadn’t lately been feeling favored.

Her knight now wears tarnished armor
they’re at the center of a storm,
their hot and steamy love
now seems merely Luke-warm.

I know this poem isn't about you for you care too much to ever let your armor get tarnished! This descriptive poem is a warning to both men and women to keep the "spark" going in their relationship; both parties have to work at keeping the love alive and fresh! Love this post, Dick!

It's a daily process to keep a relationship ALIVE! Much too easy to become complacent and expect the spark to continue putting out heat! Nicely done, Richard....loved your soft lyrical flow!

I agree with you Dick, and I think any man that wears the armor must also be prepared to always be polishing it and keeping it in good working order for we never know when we will need it.

Beautifully written with nice rhyme and rhythm but I doubt that you'd ever allow yourself to become 'tarnished'. :)

Much love to you,

Donna
