A discovery of lies by omission and half truths.

Den of Deception

…………………………………………………………………………………………

The name kept pestering my memory,

As it tried to warn me to proceed with caution.

I’d heard it before…no read it,  between your

lines of deceit…

Where shadows hid the truth from me.

Cross reference of dated poetry finally revealed

the answer…

You refused to give me, when asked why you

would not allow me to come to you.

It’s clear now why you never came to me.

I can’t help but wonder…

If he too walk amongst Toxaway cypress,

And did you write tears of poetry upon paper

of deception ?

Once more my angel has saved me…

Sending me to a place I had been before,

To hang my shingle with words of love written upon,

Walking into an old familiar den…

Where I hoped you might again,

Come pay a visit.

How naïve of me to consider you a victim…

I see now how it is meant to be,

With karma finding you with a lesson you needed.

How foolish of me to turn a blind eye of trust your way…

Slipping my head into sands of denial,

Completely rejecting any possibility you’d play…

The same game  with me, that you played

with the unsuspecting one before me.

And so here we stand…

Me on the grounds of my love honest and true ,

Worn on my sleeve for God and the world to see…

While you struggle to survive in a world where you,

Are surrounded by spirits of deception eating your soul,

With last thread of salvation leaving you deserted,

Caught in the web of lies you’d weave.

Nagging realization of how all sacrifices were made by me,

Have haunted my soul since suggested possibilities you

sent my way,

Damned near convinced me to throw years of reconstructive

investment away…

For the sole purpose of lying next to you…

In your bed cover with linens of hidden agenda.

I will go now and answer the door,

Where love has been knocking but ignored.

I’ll open my heart so the pain you so cunningly

deposited …

Will have a means of escape…

Freeing me to love again with head held high,

As I sigh a whispered  prayer you make it out alive…

From the fires of the deceitful hell you so skillfully created.
