What Was Left Behind

This was written for the woman I left behind whom I loved more than she could ever know.

Go now my love and lay down your sweet head;
A rose I will place next to you in your bed.
A kiss for your lips and "sweet dreams" for your ear;
The sound of your breath is all the night will hear.

The moon's silver light o'er you til morn;
Til then, her light unto you she'll adorn.
As the sun's golden light seeps into your mind;
Only the rose shall know the love left behind.

Her pedals are your lips, her sweet smell too;
T'was the only thing I could find as beautiful as you.
