-Dedicated To My Fellow Pet Rescuers-

Inspired By The Disney Song,

‘A Pirate’s Life For Me’

And Our Recent Late Night Efforts

To Help An Injured Cat In The Woods;

And Probably Imbibing Too Much Hooch,

It’s Getting Awfully Darn Cold Out Here

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a trapper’s life for me,

The abandoned dogs and cats, our loot.

Drink another hot toddy me 'earties, yo ho.

We trap pets, when others don't give a hoot.

So drink up me ‘earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a trapper’s life for me,

We hide in bushes, all hours of the night.

Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

For the abused pets, now filled with fright.

So drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a trapper’s life for me,

We try to help animals, that others won’t.

Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We care for homeless orphans, others don’t.

So drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're ordinary folks, just tryin to help out,

Unlike politicians, not knaves and villains,

Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We do what we can, in weather that’s chillin.

So drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads,

Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Aye, but we’re loved by all the mangy dogs and cats.

So drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a trapper’s life for me.

Tonight, some of us will be at a cemetery,

Attempting to trap a starving dog there;

So little time, so many abandoned pets,

And not enough people, who really care.

If You Have Any Pet Rescuers

On Your Christmas List,

Hot Chocolate or Some Rum,

Make a Wonderful Holiday Gift.

Good thoughts, Dad! Think we've all got Pirates on the brain today (all Depp's fault!) but think you and your noble friends are more the Crowe and Robin Hood of impoverished animal needs, don't you?! :)) xx

Love the mix of levity and seriousness,
Ed; yes, it is possible to enjoy ourselves
and have a wee bit of indulgence
while doing good work.
