Ronee': pretty girl;
Black, wavy hair, big, black eyes,
She is a Cajun!

Aged 9 years, so wise
Beyond her years; she is smart!
She is a genius!

Disabled, but brave..
Arthritis eats at her joints,
But she won't give up!

Crutches for walking;
Braces upon her two legs..
She WON'T even quit!!

Has asthma, too, but..
It's under control; don't cry..
She knows when to stop!

Is in pain often;
But doesn't complain, not much..
She is courageous!

Wants to be a star;
Singer of country music;
Just like Loretta!!

Loves to be on stage,
Performing her country songs;
She is amazing!

Born on Christmas Day,
Unwanted at first, now loved;
She's a special gift!!

Don't call her crippled;
She can show you many things..
Treat her with RESPECT!!

If you treat her wrong,
She is bound to whine and cry..
For..she isn't dumb!!

Treat her normally;
This is all she asks; be wise..
She is a *great* friend!!

A very moving piece. My mother also suffered with arthritis, among many other ailments. She did not complain either. She was a very brave soul, and upon her passing many that knew her admitted they never thought of her as "handicapped".
