Kali and Nilla are ever vigilant around the time I get home from work. They know a belly rub and a milk bone awaits them when I walk through the door and now Kali has developed a penchant for ice cubes as well.

Just where the hell is Master?

Our biscuit’s overdue

He’s going to have to tell his boss

These long hours will not do

It’s not that we are starving

We just like to eat

It’s quite important to a dog

To get an after dinner treat

Me and master have a deal

That I won’t chew his socks

As long as when he makes his drink

We get milk bones on the rocks

Our master is no dummy

So we just have to wait

And listen to our tummy’s growl

Cause our master’s always late

Great poem. About three months ago my husband and I got two new pups. They think ice cubes are a treat and will do anything for them. Of course, the liver treats drive them into a frenzy when I open the tub after a good walk.

PAT ...

When I was a teenager, had a parakeet named Petey - he knew both the time & sound of the car engine, and flew out of his cage, perched ontop the living room curtain, and when I opened the front door ... SWOOPED right down & landed on my glasses... PETS KNOW !!!

Remember the old days when Kali peed on the floor for you because she was so happy you got home?

Sweet babies.

Nice poem. Sounds like they've "got yer number" much like our cat "Gizmo" has ours. I'm amazed at how smart she has become. Dick

Sounds like my cats. They meet me at the door with a "Where the HELL were you?" expression on their faces, then immediately take me to their kibble bowls to point out they need filling.

Great, and very familiar story (poem) ol' Patrick. I've never had a dog that is always as hungry as Kody. Although I did discover that it is so much easier to train a hungry dog than one that is not interested in food. The mere movement of the refrigerator door will bring Kody scurrying.

They just can't get the staff these days, can they? My regal retriever has that same air of disdain when I'm grovelling about on the floor trying to dry off her paws for her! Pic says it all. xx

Dogs aren't Dummies either. Have you seen some of the recent studies done with cameras placed inside homes with pets? They ask pet owners who participate to vary their home arrival times, and somehow both dogs and cats somehow 'sense' when their master is on the way home, and they often head for that window or door 10 or 15 minutes prior to their arrival, no matter the time of day or night. Fascinating Stuff.
