 I had hardened my heart

And pushed Jesus away

I thought I was fine

But I was going astray

Then one night I had a dream

That at first, seemed strange

I did not realize it, but

It was time for a change

I saw a man

Staring at me

It made me curious

I had to go see

What exactly

He was doing here

I needed no one

I had made that clear

It made me angry

That he had invaded my dream

But I would soon see things

Are not always what they seem

As I approached him

The light glistened on tears in his eyes

The closer I got

I could hear his sad cries

I decided that

I had to know

What was troubling

This poor man so

As I approached him

I began to speak

Pardon me sir

Why are you so bleak

He answered a loved one has left me

They need me no more

They do not realize

Them I still adore

I had promised to be with them

Until the end

I promised I would be

Their most faithful friend

I had walked with them

Through day and through night

After a while with me

They found no delight

I told them one day

They would have a new home

In a land filled with joy

And treasures unknown

The man said to me

I gave them my all

But on me no longer

Did they ever call

There was something

So familiar about this man

I had tried to figure it out

Since the dream began

I decided it was time

For me to depart

Even though this sweet man

Had broken my heart

I said to this man

I'm sorry you are hurting so

But the time has come

For me to go

Sir if you don't mind me asking

Who made you so blue

He looked me in the eyes

And said my child it was you

I replied, I'm sorry sir

But we have never met

He said my child

Do you think I would ever forget

You let me in your heart

Many years ago

When you came to me

You were feeling low

So crystal clear

Things then became

I was talking to Jesus

And I was filled with shame

Jesus said my child

I waited for your return

Even though for me

You had no concern

I said, Jesus I am sorry

I pushed you away

Please walk with me again

This I do pray

Jesus said my child

I hear your plea

I been here waiting

Right where you left me

I am now walking

Again with the Lord

Without fail

My spirit He restored

Now my friend you know

What I have been through

I wanted to share

My story with you

I am sharing this

Out of concern

I hope you benefit

From what I did learn

If you've turned your back on Jesus

And you're filled with despair

Journey back to where you left Him

He's waiting right there
