Flicker

The love that flickers within your heart.

Flicker

Watching the fire flicker

I see your lips and still quiver

there again the fire flickers

to me

Now your arms are stretching out

to me

As I put my hand inside the flames

they continue burning cold to me

Sitting again and staring into the red

of moist wood burning there are embers

red and orange and gold just flickering

to me

Pop and pop they flicker and my heart

beats as a flame flickering still for you

Nearer there I lay now closer to the flames

bouncing little flickers off the wood dances

closer for once I see the flickers are now

bringing your blue eyes closer to me

How dare I think that in the fire you are there

and we will once again together be holding onto

the flickering of our love in heart and souls that know

no cord better than the violin I hear of your voice

saying,  I loved you once and now again to me

Since our first night that our hearts flickered inside

our chests so strong a bond of love forever we did say

and now I want you to come by embers burning  to

flicker closer as when we first met and joy was part

of our nights beside this fire where I am now alone

Waiting for the day and night when once again

together, we are here in front of our flickering fire with

our hearts burning strong instead of waiting for the fire

to go out in this place and it shall never here replace our

flickering hearts do feel my tears as they flicker down

my cheeks as my heart sees now only wood burning

Your poem does not flicker, it burns with emotion. May your fire never burn out.
