All You Need Is Love

I sit alone
not another human around
Zoe my only company
as cute as she is, she is a mongrel mutt
half yorkie, half schnauzer
only interested in her world
play ball, throw rag bone
feed her
it is Friday in February
and all Thibodaux is socked in from the rain
which has stopped
turning cold
too much traffic on slick streets
so I sit in The Hovel
reading Misery, by David L. Lindsey
read it before
liked it, reading it again
good books make you wonder
what has life done to the neighbor next door
he is keeping a secret
from everyone until they perp-walk
him into the police station
charged with an awful crime
and we never knew
he was such a happy, kind man
we never knew
so many people are not who we  think they are
people who use and abuse their wives
their husbands
worse, the kids
as I sit here waiting for my Goddess
I'm keeping a wary eye out
for everybody
the world is not a fifties sitcom
nor is it Little House on the Prairie
we live in a vicious world
until I grew old enough to realize
John Lennon's
"All you need is love, love, love . ..
All you really need is love"
just about says it all

Yes this feels like a 50's movie, a detective type show, where silence and black and white keeps you from going crazy...liking this Jerry, very cool poetry!

Peace, love and light,

Your awesome words run the gamut of emotions and when all is said and done... all you need is love! I like this one, Jerry and I am so happy that you have a Goddess of love in your life.

Amen, Jerry! There never seems to be enough love to go around...too many keep what little they have to themselves....Hope you have a good weekend, my friend!

It sometimes takes a rainy day to shed a little light. I enjoyed reading this being socked in myself due to wet weather.

This stylish poem is trenchantly laced with images full of verve as it deals with a somewhat seamy side topic head on and ends with optimism despite all the evidence that might invite one to cynicism... (a while back you were expressing your lack of faith, Jerry, but whether you know it or not, when you center in on love... faith cannot be far behind). Anyways, I sure enjoyed reading this poem this morning. Have yourself a love-in today, man! (and keep the faith!)...

In peace,
Roger
