Because the child suffers.

Euphoria, desire

A flower opens

A butterfly spreads its wings,

Higher and higher

The mood and the music,

A lonely child sings

Hungry and needing

The child cries

Impossible to satisfy,

Wounded and bleeding

Alone in the dark,

Hurry or the child will die

There’s horror, there’s hate

The world is a cage

But there’ll always be prayer and hope,

So we procreate

Pass on our despair

And expect our children to cope

For love

Our only consolation

We torment and abuse,

The weak ones starve

The strong indulge,

But the child can only lose

Annabelle

The child in each and everyone of us craves attention and recognition.
It is not until we realize that child within us, that we really progress in life.
Intriguing write

We focus on the child, the helpless one. We should not throw the errant parent in jail, but somehow, someway, get that parent responsible for their offspring. Or is it just easier to focus on child?

what is so sad about this is 'the child' seems to never grow up. the world is filled with adults that are still that 'child'. thanks for sharing.
