Sacramento

into the rift an new star.

early grateful for mesopotamic mysteries

in outward allegiance to

peninsular mystagogues.

into the notch-bordered basin

rolling still silent

over riparian roadsteads

past firm-floored floodplain seminaries.

into the deltoid nave

valley-fevered initiate

to vernal oscillation.

weaving arithmatic rites

in the lengthening shadows of

wheaten towers.

into the inundated sacrament

from morning angelus

to afternoon anathema.

too tractile trackage

in the intumescent interstate

into the cradle again

the mystery played too much.

now seedeaters seen under

threatening mounts of cold solid solvent.

into the sickle-bound breadbasket

sicklecelled rivulets weep

from stuccoed streets and

unwashed winos search out

state wafers.

into the mill

men and magpies

diesels and dust.
