Metaphorically Speaking Mostly is a book full of metaphoric poetry. Because poetry is an expression of our inner self, many will take away something different in the mean..

Nothing in this world compares to a true friend.

For years I thought I had all that I’d need.

You, by my side, were a true friend indeed

A soul mate that surely a miracle had sent

A lifetime of pleasure and love to be spent

No matter what mood I’d gone out in that day

You’d be happy to see me - in your own special way

We’d go walking for hours come rain or shine

The two of us sharing a pleasure sublime

We’d jump in the car and go out for a drive

The joy of such things made us both feel alive

We’d go off for a weekend and explore new terrain

We’d wander the seashore again and again

We’d sample the sunsets and views from the Downs

Have picnics by rivers and strolls through the towns

Then one day I noticed, though you were still keen

You were looking depressed and a limp could be seen

We still went out walking but it wasn’t the same

And, as time hurried on, you grew to be lame

I hugged you and told you I loved you the best

Of all of my friends, so much more than the rest.

Then you died, and our lifetime of pleasure was spent

In all that we did and all that you meant

There’s a great bond between us that no one can sever

And my deep love for you will last me forever

For years I thought I had all that I’d need.

You, by my side, were a true friend indeed.

My girl died a few years ago now but not a day goes by when I don't think about her.

She was precious. When my dog, Jazz died, I decided not to replace him because the loss was too great.

Thinking of your beloved pet each day. Something fun, a trick,
a nudge. I have lost a Springer Spaniel, Dawson four years ago.
Walking this afternoon, pausing at his resting place. Spring
again for you and me. Thank you for sharing Ruan.

There’s a great bond between us that no one can sever,

There truly is nothing like the bond between a man (or a woman) and man's best friend. Yours sounds a lot like my faithful old Pepper who became my fishing partner and savior for many years after my first marriage fell apart.

And in Pepper's honor, I now rescue abandoned pets and find them loving new homes.
