I don’t care what colour skin

My friend you may be living in

I never had much time for bigotry

And what religion you may choose

Should concern nobody else but you

Your God, your priest, your friends and family,

Because I couldn’t give a copper cent

If you’re Muslim, Catholic or Protestant

Or a member of some weird religious sect

All I ask, if you don’t mind

Is friend, if you would be so kind

Try to treat our country with respect,

Now it’s not perfect, I agree

And things need changing urgently

But change should come from everyone involved

And not by racial hatred or violent threats

Because these have never changed things yet

And never will, whatever you’ve been told,

So don’t burn our flag or flaunt our laws

We wouldn’t do the same to yours

If we were in the country of your birth

Our religious leaders would not preach

Hate and murder on your streets

For such extremist rhetoric’s absurd,

If you disagree with what we do

Or strongly hold a different view

Then here it’s each mans right to have his say

And we pride ourselves that each mans right

Is equal be he black or white

Yellow, red or any other shade,

And all we ask for in return

Is that our language you might learn

So we might better understand each other

If you can’t understand a word we say

How can you hope to make a change?

We must communicate with one another,

If not then those with hate filled hearts

Will win and tear the world apart

And we’ll deserve whatever fate we get

But the world can be a better place

Not just for us but every race

And all it takes is that we show respect.

Wise words, a little bit slanted towards the United States point of view. While it's hard, one must also view the situation from the other shoes.

Nicely stated Steve. From your lips to the ears of all the various immigrants coming across our borders. And I would also ask that they get a job rather than expecting us to feed and clothe them.

Thanks Dick
