He has walked on different trails
Through stormy nights and sun lit days
Over hills and through dark valleys
When he was lost God showed the way

He has lived an astounding life
Very few reasons to complain
He's traveled too fast then slowed down
Soaked up sunshine and cheated pain

He's reaching the autumn of life
His years on earth are winding down
He thanks the Lord that he's ready
There's no reason to wear a frown

Been told that he's at his trail's end
Time's coming to say his goodbyes
Doesn't want anyone feeling bad
Don't let a tear drop from your eyes

He'll be better than he is now
He will be with the Lord above
No more pain and no more sorrow
Only bliss and eternal love

No need to spread any sadness
Look a bit closer and you will see
The end of the trail is precisely
Exactly where I need to be

No, my friends, do not cry for him
Take a good look and you'll observe
The choices he made were varied
He's getting more than he deserves
