“No Good Deed

Goes Unpunished.”

Oscar Wilde

Music: Hit The Road Jack

I used to work for our nation’s uncaring bureaucracy

I had mistakenly thought my job was to help our vets

Bureaucrats said: “No, now we'll reduce their benefits”

So I left my job, and today, like some others, I help pets

But even the sad world of pet rescue, contains these callous bureaucrats

A very compassionate employee was just fired, for saving one dog’s life

His bureaucratic bosses, had decided to euthanize this abandoned canine

The man thought the dog deserved a chance, and took him home one night

Most bureaucratic bosses are outraged when their ‘sage directives’ are ignored

They immediately gave this man an order to return this canine to be euthanized

“Return Dog #275 Now, Or You Will Be Terminated From Your Employment!”

Good Deeds are routinely punished, so today, many give up, and don’t even try

But I salute this man, who had the courage and the conviction to rescue this dog

I know several others who have been arrested for freeing starving dogs on chains

And others who were labeled ‘domestic terrorists’ for their protests at puppy mills

For so many today, doing the right thing, is often accompanied by ridicule and pain

And like the man who was just terminated from his job for saving a worthy canine

I was told that I was no longer welcome at a shelter where I had been volunteering

Since I found a terrified little dog in a back room, that was about to be ‘put down’

And I put her in my car, drove off, and today, to my wife and I much joy she brings

Fighting for a cause today has become extremely difficult in our bureaucratic society

Road blocks and layer upon layer of bureaucratic red tape now always get in the way

But if you have a cause that you believe in, it’s worth all the hurdles and the obstacles

And I, for one, hope you’ll consider adopting Dog #276, before he is euthanized today

Saving One Canine Won’t Change This Sad Old World,

But It Will Change The World, For The One Being Saved.

Impossible to believe the callous disregard for life any life, I wonder how many of these soulless creatures work for the government, are you sure they're human, and not from another planet, it wouldn't be that far out, that gentlemen that adopted the dog anyway, is a true human being, a Mensch in German. Bless you!

To Ed Matlack:

Dog #275 is already at this terminated employee's home. He's sticking to his guns; he's adopted him, and he's already looking for another job.

Saving Dog #276 is my way of asking people to head down to their own overflowing local shelter or pound before the next innocent dog is put down.

It's UNBELIEVABLE how authorities put up hurdle after bloody hurdle to stop people from doing good! I'll bet, when they need someone to do good for them, they won't be so hasty!
