This is part II of a poem that I originally posted last September. Having recently added more chapters, Im planning to post Part III through V within the next few days.

Quoting the Wanderin Man, “This is the second installment of the story I recently started tellin about a situation I got myself into a few years back.  I was hangin out in a little town along the Texas/Mexico border. This picks up the story from where I left off.”

WANDERIN MAN
RUNNIN FROM THE LAW
Continued - Part II

“Got the pedal to the metal,
grindin her through the gears,
runnin from the law,
and tryin to outrun the tears.”

Momma didn’t raise no dummies,
least wise it’s what ma brother said
an I’m a thinkin if I keep on a runnin,
mor’n likely I’ll wind up dead.

Not that I done nuthin wrong,
couldn’t be no further from truth.
There was some kinda confusion
at tha turnpike exit booth.

Don’t know what was goin on
but someone was causin a ruckus.
They pulled us all out a line
an beside em’s where they stuck us.

Didn’t see just what went on,
but they must a thought I was a witness.
What ever it was a goin on
they were surely pissed with us.

When all hell broke loose
they started shootin at tha car.
That’s when she got hit,
she didn’t make it very far.

But when bullets started flyin
that’s when my foot hit the gas
I decided ta get out of Dodge
before my future was my past.

Now jist hold on a minut
an I’ll clear up this here mess,
seems I got into trouble
when all I was doin, was my best.

I was drivin the turnpike
when my hog started a missin,
so I pulled into the rest stop,
time I did some pissin.

When I came out, a little Mustang
was parked next ta my ride
with this beautiful little blonde
sittin all alone inside.

She met my smile
with a generous one of her own,
motioned ta the seat beside her
as she put down her phone.

I slid in beside her
asked her, “What’ll it be?”
She said, “There’s a couple assholes
bin a messin around with me.”

“I could use yer help
if’n ya got the time.”
Said, “I got mah Smith-N-Wesson
an I got’er fully primed.

My bike’s been actin up,
can ya take me ta the city?”
She said, “You do the drivin,
while I make my self look purtty.”

Next thing ya know
we was a sittin at that toll booth.
First came a little ruckus,
Then it seemed all hell broke loose.

Now I’m a lookin fer a place
where I kin dump this car
got to do it PDQ
cain’t be a drivin it very far.

To be continued….
