Seriously
He asked them if they took life seriously, and they replied that they did, of course!
Allthewhile they kissed their rings,
and felt blessed that their dreams
were answered with the bounties of silver and gold.
What could be more serious that this? they shouted.
And he just stood there speechless, and sadness owned his face.

Taking life 'seriously'is a very individual affair... to some it is having masses of money, high status and anything material..to others a sunset, star gazing, the natural beauty and immense wonder of life itself is what matters,..However, we are all here to learn, and to discover these things on our 'life journey'...and we are all at vastly differing levels of knowingness...
I enjoyed your words very much....

A misunderstanding? The different conceptions of what is serious, important, vital... What was he expecting when he stood speechless, I wonder. To me, rings are promises, dreams, the fuel. But not all promises bring the strong union.
