A man and woman were having an affair. He was legally separated and lived with some singer chick. He was still in love with his soon to be ex., but knew that that divorce was NOW.

Why did you let me fall in love with you
When you still wanted her
Why did you whisper words of love to me
My mind's still a blur

I'm so ashamed of me I feel just like a fool
I really fell for you
Just like some girl in school

Why did you let me fall in love with you
When you still wanted her

Why did you let me fall in love with you
When your love wasn't mine
You should have told me then just how you felt
Or given some sign

Maybe you tried I guess
I didn't want to see
I wanted to believe
You were in love with me

You didn't let me fall in love with you
The falling was mine.

Sorry I forgot to comment on this, Jane, but even though he let you fall in love with him, he still had no right to terrorize you. You fell in love. He hid who he really was from you . . . for awhile.
