April 2 2012

I sit in the dark listening
to its silence shouting loudly.
A cool early spring mist drizzles
leaving nourishment in its wake.
Crackeling sounds in fallen leaves
a scurry for nighttimes shelter.
Quiet envelops every pore
seeping in replacing all disdane.

I rejuvinate as before
in places all but forgotten.
Nere nocturnal but in the dark
peace seems to offer its option.
Moons glow peaking between the clouds
and dark is no longer reigning.
My hope is peace this time will last
for longer than fleeting moments.

I rise and wander through these woods
calm in returned reassurance.
An owl whowhos at my passing
and I wonder at his question.
I trod on in moccasined feet
to lay myself down in slumber.
For on the morrow in daylight
all this becomes but memory.

Hi Budd, what a great reminder to all of us how powerful nature is to your soul. And oh how I need to go on those walks again... been far too long. Thank you for sharing this...

I sense this is either someone awaken before dawn, or, even more intriguing, early man without shelter waking by a stream after a watchful night avoiding predators.

It is amazing what we can hear, when we hear nothing...nature is telling if only we would listen like you did~beautiful

This carries the reader through as though in a dream. It's quality is almost surreal. A pleasure to read.

Nature truly is rejuvinating, if only we have the eyes and ears and heart to see, hear, and feel.
