In the Hall Somebody Stood

I locked the door, hearing its click,
Inside The Hovel I felt good;
Picked up the phone to call a chick,
But in the hall somebody stood.

I shook off the effect of fear,
And I called the girl like I should;
To calm my nerves I had a beer,
Still . . . in the hall somebody stood.

I enjoy your style here, and to me this is about how we allow doubts to creep in unaware...to me anyway, it's about the mind of the poet!
Am I right?

Yikes! You gave me chills just by the very thought of somebody standing in the hall ... I'm one that gets scared easily! haha

Interesting play of lyrical consideration of fear. What struck me most was the reminder that for every force, there inevitably is a counterforce, if only we will acknowledge it. Too often, it is ignored.

Spooky, spooky...But I have had that many strange things happen...I'm not surprised. When that veil between the unseen world thins just a little... anything can happen...

oooh! This one raises the fine hairs on the back of one's neck! Brings back a bad memory for me....one night after I was divorced back around the dark ages, it was around 11pm when someone knocked at my door....through the peephole I could see a dark stranger staring right though me....Without opening the door I asked him who he was looking for...turned out he had the wrong apartment!
