Sea Beyond The Moment

The Boat is docked,
the waves rush beneath,
a rocking sound is heard
as I walk toward the edge.
I stand teetering at that edge,
wanting to jump into the murky water,
I am just about to jump
when a light comes up to greet me.
It is a brilliant yellow light
so bright that I close my eyes,
as I open to look closer,
I am surprised to see you there.
Your hair is shiny and wet,
your eyes glowing as bright as the light,
and your lips forming words
I cannot hear.
I step back to balance myself,
and I can hear your laughter,
it isn't a normal laugh
but a loud booming laugh.
I am scared for a moment,
thinking that I have offended you,
but in an instant you take me in your arms,
and carry me down to your sea world.
I know that I am alive,
but somehow I am not drowning,
I am living among the sea creatures
that inhabit the bottom of the sea.
There is a party for me,
welcoming and inviting
I embrace this celebration
and you are very pleased.
As the celebration draws to an end,
you carry me to your chambers.
It is dark and cold,
I am reminded of a tomblike feeling.
You open the door to your chamber
and we step into an airtight room.
It is filled with many pillows of all shapes
and sizes in brilliant colors.
You lay me down upon this pillow bed,
slip your turbin off,
and move your body close to mine.
we are lying next to one another.
Suddenly there is music everywhere,
chanting and drumbeats fill the room,
I am entranced with the melodies,
and I begin to float as if on cue.
I float about the room,
while you watch my performance,
As the music subsides,
I begin to drop back down to the pillows.
As I land, you take me in your arms again,
tell me that you have waited all your days
to finally have me by your side,
We are the rulers of the deep sea.
I smile and say to you,
"Please, I must go back to my home,
I have a life, a family a love".
You stand and say,"Never"!
This is when I wake up and realize
that it was all a dream,
what does it all mean?
I must live my life and be content with what I have.
