Cynthia is uncertain as to whether Todd is genuinely remorseful, and is not about to make things easy for him.
|
Though you say you’ve no haven where is she,
she whom you turn to when you turn away?
Your profession of love, fiction to me,
is strong as lines from some fanciful play
where heroes’ promises fall like the rain,
only to be swept away with the wind,
while the leading lady is left in pain
to wrestle with love, beat, bested and pinned.
Where is this love you promised to honour?
Though I wait, ‘tis in vain, ‘tis but futile.
Am I but a taste, a passing flavour?
Am I thrown over for some hot new style?
You lie when you moon on about my lyre.
Save such lines for objects of your desire.

Cynthia's seems to be scolding Todd for his indulgences and his "profession of love" ... she fears his "objects of desire" have left her "thrown over" and feeling like she shares just being "a taste" ...
enjoy this continuing saga ... facts of life ... |

| ... how come I get the impression that such "old love" is about to be reborn through the fire of such lines which could be stirring up passion within them?! Or am I just weird... don't answer that!! :)) But wordsmithing can be a powerful aphrodisiac as we all know... Who needs marriage guidance counselling when the power of poems can do the job in half the time? Cheap, too... but I digress. Love this form of hammer and tongs! xx |

| Well, Roger, there is no doubt where Cynthia stands in the crucible of love, is there? These are tight-packed lines without a hint of wriggle room. |
