Look Into My Eyes

Motivated to write this when I first saw a commercial regarding plight in Somalia

Look into my eyes

See how my heart cries

Or is it my heart, I sigh

Maybe my bones as I die

What shows in my eyes so full

The future of a world, now ridiculed

A world full of people who will exist no longer

Because its' future generation is dying of hunger

For what do they ask

To accomplish the task

Of saving their world

Little boys and little girls

They ask that you give

So others may live

Why ask this of you

You haven't a clue

Trade places with them

Before you condemn

You'll beg, borrow, steal

And may even kill

To take back your life

Not their, toll, struggle and strife

The nation of Somalia

On the continent of Africa

Is asking of you

Give not much, just a few

Of what you can spare

Show kindness and share

The famine in that country is great

The children are dying now, don't wait

Give now before it's too late
