This prose was written for my Mother in 1994. I was going through a divorce and didn't have the money to buy her a gift. I hope you enjoy it!!

In this life we are truly blessed to be women,  Mothers,  leaders and the strength that holds the family together.

We raise our children through the trials and triumphs of life.

We smile even when we're crying inside.

We love whole heartedly the important people in our lives.

Our strength is passed on to our children--- our weaknesses dim in their eyes;  as we kiss scratched knees,  spend sleepless nights (when the're sick),  mend fences that once stood strong but crumbled under life's pressure,  help them rebuild castles that were washed away in the sand, help them pick up the pieces of their lives that seemed to have shattered.

Those precious lives we helped to create and bring into this world have stolen our hearts and we,  as Mothers,  unselfishly devote our entire lives to them.

Our rewards come with each passing year.

Down those long and winding roads that have been laid out for us,  we walk each day in the shoes GOD has provided for us.

We don't question the events of the past or the unknowns of tomorrow.

To fill those shoes isn't always easy but somehow we manage with pride and dignity.

Now,  on Mothers day we hold our heads high because we know inside, that without us,  the family wouldn't be as strong and steadfast.

With our eyes on tomorrow;  our hopes and dreams burried deep in our souls,  we smile because we secretly know that in this life we have been blessed to be Mothers.

For all that I am and all that I hope to be---I owe it all to you and the Lord.

Thank you for your love,  understanding,  strength,  support and most of all---our friendship.

I love you,  Momma!

This is an awesome tribute to your mother, who, I am sure, loved you warts and all! Thank you for the peek into your heart where you express your thoughts of your mother so tenderly and sweetly. I wish you much continued success in your writing. I'm a new fan!

The value of mothers has long been underrated. Now, more than ever, we should honor them for taking on full time work to support their families, as well.
