Memorial poem

‘Immortal Memories’

Immortal memories that speak to me,
Written in songs of the past
Neath beaten sacred soil reclining,
In vaults of stone they cast

Figures toiling and bent,
Broken in their sorrows
Land flayed and famished,
Starving children’s lost tomorrows

Whispering winds from long ago,
Singing on the corn
Lives and dreams resounding,
Was so swiftly flown

Glorious daylight spreading,
Songbirds singing sweet,
Joyous melodies playing,
Sweetened their defeat

I gaze upon their land,
And see my children play
Their laughter ringing clear,
Still live for them today

THE CYCLE OF LIFE; FULL OF NEVER ENDING MEMORIES(SOME GOOD, SOME BAD) THAT WE TREAD UPON FOR A SHORT WHILE BEFORE PASSING THEM ON TO OUR CHILDREN, WHO ARE STRENGTHENED BY THEM...JUST AS WE WERE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I don't know of the famine you are writing about (perhaps the Irish potato famine?), but I do know that just reading it gave me great sorrow and joy. So touching and poignant it brings a tear to the eye.
