Together At Last

A1A, Flagler Beach, people all around

They're coming, they're leaving, some are home bound

A girl in a sundress walks down to the shore

Asking the question, "Why do I even think about him anymore?"

He stopped calling because the distance was too far

From there to here, hours, I know how these relationships are

Like smelling the sweetness of the wine through a veil made of lace

Only to be told that the lips you once drank with are gone from your face

But the slapping of the ocean waves and the salt of the air

Cleanse the reality she wants to let go of to dream if she dare

Where he walks beside her talking and laughing

Sharing the mysteries that love could be bringing

Her heart beats faster, faster still at the thought of his eyes

Falling on the stare she so cleverly tries to disguise

She can't help but continue down the hidden lane

In her mind where desire, aching, wanting return again and again

As he moves his hand around the back of her neck and up into her hair

Pulling her toward him, resisting him is too much to bear

The taste of pleasure whets their appetite for more

And he tells her she is someone he could adore

Alive she feels the crashing of the waves

The cadence of their bodies and all resolve caves

Releasing the strongholds and thoughts of the past

Where love failed them, caution flies away, they are together at last

you are right a long distance romance is not for everyone. first of all, it has to be true love...because...only then can it be held in the mind, not the heart...for the heart is fickle and can be easily swayed by atmosphere and circumstances. thanks

You are telling a story that is crystal clear and I love the directness in which you expressed it.
