We don,t all see the same thing the same way. June 15, 2012

You may call it just a hole
but I made it all by my self.
Shaped it all the way I want
it makes me feel all safe and warm.
After hunting sustinence
all day out in the scorching sun.
Or running to hide from rain
where I can be dry and stay safe.
Here in winter nice and warm
until spring flowers start to bloom.
You may call it just a hole
but it's my very own safe home.

So deep in many ways, Budd. Totally perceivable. I think we all have a 'proverbial hole' where we find our own safe home from life situations..Unique write..I really enjoyed this...

Far more than a hole, indeed. And every den that I find on my woodland wanderings always fascinates me.

I love this poem. The cozy safe feeling it brings. Nowhere like home.

Reminded me of the starving female dog Mom took in. When she had her pups, she found a convenient badger hole in a ditch to protect her and them.

In the Middle Ages through Colonial America, most homes had dirt floors and prarie dwellers lived in sod houses.

I was walking on the ice age trail the other day here in Wisconsin and I saw such "a hole" and my mind pondered for the safety it brought the creature who lived there. Safe and warm, like the den we build for ourselves Budd :)

Very very nice.

Our cat has a hidey-hole under an old couch in my garage. Everytime we have a thunder storm she meows and carry's on something awful until we let her out, then she immediately heads to her "hole."

Seems we all have our own special "hole." Dick

Some may think, and well it may be, the den you write of is our Authors Den. Me, thinks, however that that which you speak is that of a brown bear in hibernation. Good words my new friend.

This makes me think of how an animal feels about the hole it digs and feels so safe in just as I feel about the meager cottage my husband and I fixed up where I feel safe and warm. Thank you.

Love ya!

Bud: The image reminds me of feeling safe when I was a child every time I saw a tree with a naught in it. I imagined hiding inside the naught. Memories flooded on this one Bud. Thanks for sharing.

Works for me too, Budd. First literary site I joined after I finally broke down and going the cyberspace world and got a computer. I've left it. I've come back. left. Come back, blah, blah, blah. Here I am again, hope to stay this time.

You're right, it is a safe home.
