A Shoe Did Me In

A nonsense poem about family greed

Whose right shoe was that in the middle of the floor?

I almost tripped over it on my way out the door

what a disaster that would of been

cause down the flight

of stairs for sure I would of went

sailing through the air over the banister

landing on the cold hard cement

Was this a conspiracy to get rid of me?

damn that shoe if you only knew what

someone set you up to do

take the blame if I’d broken my neck

“ Why it was the shoe that did it”, they’d say

Crying fake tears, while seeing who was left in my 'will '

rummaging through my jewelry box,

searching for the key to the lock

dividing up my furniture, and don’t

forget my China dishes

and Platinum silverware

Going through my closet seeing what they can wear

All those pretty shoes just sitting there

well the jokes on them I seen it coming

what the hell I should of known

two shoes are better than one

they didn't get me with the first one

I tripped over the left one

and now I’m dead

A shoe did me in

Somewhere I read something about waiting for the second shoe to fall. There may be some nonsense in this, but it makes a lot of sense to me. Funny how relatives can become so greedy after someone dies. It's always better to inherit it than work hard and get it for yourself.
