Is the conundrum of love endless? Another exploration.

Love's Cherry Stone

Who knows love...really?

Try as we might
is not our effort but futile?

Just as beneath microscope
a snow crystal beguiles
even as it waits for nothing
as it transcends its outer appearance
defending its inner self

One's heart knows passion's rejection
usually finds a waiting scabbard
before reality of blood
becomes a Now forever

For one's mistakes understood
preserves life's warrior of chance
for yet another quest
another venture into discovery

Perhaps the I within
the only essence life knows
renders helpless the You without
attempting to create one from two

Might Love accept duality
knowing for every touch
there is that which becomes touched
for every breath taken
there is a breath given?

Is not being in love with another
but oneness with Love's state of presence
just as wind clouds of Nature's sustenance
know right the roots they nourish?

Forget not Love's cherry stone
as it remains the seed for yet another experience
a protective flesh to comfort its existence
'til its place of rest awakens once more

the first question say's so much, ask any parent of a newborn,ask the jilted highschool sweethart? the divorce attorney? the newlywed, the little boy with his dog; define love. This is almost a dare....

It is nature to seek the only one, one in which we want to share each others lives with. Sometimes it's the pits (cherry stone), and if it remains the pits the best thing to do is move on. But, when you do find the one you will nourish each other :)

It is in our very nature to love our family. But when hormones rage we seek out someone from the opposite sex. But, like any coupling observed in nature, the target of their affection sometimes rejects us for biological or other reasons. It is hard for us to accept rejection so that is the source of many love poems. On the other side, if we are not rejected, we also have occasion to write love poetry.

Profound by any stretch of the imagination. Love is overblown and is said much too much about almost everything. Still, I presume to "be in love" as we speak. I have told her she is the only woman I have ever loved. All the others never knew my love because I didn't understand what it was myself. Still, I professed love to them. "I love you and you and you, ad nauseum. Until this one and she has been broadsided with all that love I never knew before.
