An awakening from a living nightmare

Today I have a cancer removed,
It has eaten at my immune system for eight long, lonely years,
Sucking all the goodness, happiness, health and dreams,
From my savage, ravaged body.
A poison etched slowly in my bloodstream,
A shadow cast on my humanity
I was weak
Now I am not.
An angel glided to the window by my hospital bed,
Scattered fresh petals on my pillow,
Through sunlight on my shadows,
A smile across my face.
My fate is sealed now.
I have survived.
My recovery is immediate.
My happiness is infinite.
My fate is sealed now.
Entwined in a vampire that no longer sucks but breathes
Fire in my soul and hope in my heart.
I was dying.
Now I'm alive.
