He loved her with all his heart,
He wished that they'd never be apart.
Until one day she ran astray,
And he found out to his dismay,
The one he loved had betrayed him so,
She had let their love go.
He stared at the rope in his hand,
Then, he made his decision, and proceeded to stand.
Hot tears, running down his face,
He looped and knotted, then took his place.
Wrapping the scratchy loop around his neck,
He gave a little tug just to check.
He took one last breath and closed his eyes,
Then swung out to meet his demise.
The only thing left was his limp body
And one last, dried tear
Cried over the one he had loved so dear.
