A minor indictment seeking understanding.

Have You Ever Been To Vegas?

Have you ever
held on the sound of crickets
lamenting the loss of silent darkness?

Those who have know that the men
who came with their cables of light
destroyed the songs that once filled the desert air
and the symphonies oonce of moonlight

Have you ever
touched the flame of fireflies
as they huddle in the shadows of scorching neons
the endless pulsation of man's loss of innocence?

Those who have know the sparklings of nature's night watchmen
who may never be seen again in this maze of indulgent corridors.

Have  you ever
listened to the silent vibration of your essence?

Those who have know the crickets and the firefly
like themselves

As you walk the avenues of life's shock and awe
its searing light and sound show
begging to be embraced

Remember
everyone has a chance to win
or Be

Some have listened and seen

Some have not

Have ou ever been to Vegas?

It's everywhere
and nowhere

I like the questions you invite us to answer in this. "Have you ever/listened to the silent vibration of your essence?" is, for me, the I-beam of this poem, and it unites with everyone having a chance to "...Be." Listening and seeing.....two things you bring into your poetry so consistently and artfully. I tripped on two lines of similar need for a comma, in my opinion....the two beginning with "Those who have know...." I needed a comma after have, in order not to erroneously read it: "Those who have known" if that makes any sense. Wonderful way of stating our grossly overdone 24/7: "the endless pulsation of man's loss of innocence?" ~~ Diana

Yes my ex wanted to go there and we did enjoy ourselves. But my favorite moments where when we left the city and took in the sights of nature.

I have never been to Vegas, nor am I there now, therefore Vegas is neither everywhere nor now here, though it might well be nowhere... Nevertheless, I appreciate the symbolism of ubiquity associated with your titular locale, and the paradox of your final lines amuses me.

Gosh, Odin, Vegas is but a small part of that desert. I guess we made some crickets homeless, or at least had to relocate some of them. And yes, I have been to Vegas, but not to give them all of my money. I used to take in some shows back in tha day and got married there once.
