A Friend
By La Belle Rouge

if you have a friend, a real friend
cherish them as precious treasure
real friends are few, far between
enriching our lives as nothing else

when your friend is feeling joyful
rejoice with them, from your soul
and when your friend is sorrowful
donít be ashamed to let tears flow

if your friend needs a caring heart
and a listening ear, be that friend
who can be confided in, and trusted
to be honest but never judgmental

if your friend withdraws from you
donít let them slip too far away
leave no stone unturned to secure
ties that bind two hearts together

if your dear friend leaves this life
and you must remain behind to grieve
remember that your lives, and love
will bind you for time and eternity

At one time or another we lose friends. Your poem tells me that you lost a good one recently. It usually takes a long time to establish a good friend and they are few and far between. As your song implies, ď a Bridge Over Troubled Waters.Ē

Deeply touching. To lose such a friend is like losing your right arm and a big part of your heart. Profound. Liz
