'Cead Mile Failte'

 My Irish Heart

For the love of the rain upon our green land

For wars that we fought and the loves that we’ve had

For the smiles that we give and our love of the sea

How we fight for another just let us be

Proudly we stand

with a pint give a cheer

Brothers and sisters of Eire to be clear

And a wish that we give ya

unto all your hearts

May the wind be behind ya

May you never depart

With tea right beside ya

A hearth there to warm

With love there to hold ya

Throughout all your storms

May wee ones surround ya

A gift that they be

Smiles that they give ya

For children they be

And a roof overhead

With soft blankets to warm

On a cold winters night

That wrap ya like arms

Carolee Dennis-Woosley

An Irish classic. I've never been to Ireland. But from all I've read, the pictures I've seen, and the movies I've seen make me feel like I'm kin. Even though I don't hang out in the pubs and never have been a Catholic. I do however, have a signed picture of U2.

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.

Yeah, I really have to go to this beautiful and friendly country, it's so close to me.

Thanks Carolee and for you:

Beautifully tender in every way. My mother's bloodline has Irish tracings from the things we can find out.
'They wrap ya like armms.' Reminds me of many warm memories...

Peace to you, my friend

You have here given vast multitude welcomes to all the young irish lads and lasses for ever to come. May these wee ones know the grace with which you bless them.

Very Irish! Some of my best friends have hailed from that green isle of warriors and poets, and I do believe a good drop of the Irish red courses through my Welsh veins. This sounds like a most authentic Irish blessing! This composition seems natural - it flows very well.

Aye, and you wrote it as a true-blue (or green) Irishwoman, Carol. Such strong traditions that come from the Irish it just seems to flood the land from rocky coast to deep green valleys, and to the men and their lasses all with a pint or two to get the Irish chill off. Great poetry!
