There's a word for that...
When one arrives at their destination
having not known its location
upon stepping out the door
There's a word for that
but it escapes me now
When two people meet
locking gazes across a crowded room
for the first time
of the million times in a life spent together
There's a word for that too...
When two amino acids met
eons ago
and found that they could also
create a life together
That word also applies
Or, if you prefer...
when God said
"Let there be light!"
and brought us from the soil
The word holds true here just the same
When you find your car keys
before you even knew you lost them
When you run in to an old friend
thousands of miles from home
It's that word...
It holds beauty
and complexity
and grace
and powerful meaning
like few other words can
Perhaps if I'm lucky
or possibly by fluke
I'll catch a break
and stumble upon
this blessing of a word
But I cannot grasp it now
maybe I'm trying too hard
I guess I'll just let go
and hope fortune
sends it my way
I'll
Just
Rely
Upon
Serendipity
