Scatter Brain Battle

A poem about depression...

What is happening inside my brain?
It’s the weight of an anvil
Though there's no pain.

It’s a forty year battle that’s
Weighing me down,
Trying so hard to get myself
Off the ground.

I feel as if there’s some hidden
Force, its holding me back showing
No remorse.

I look out of the window
I see blue sky and clouds,
There’s the whole wide world
And it’s shouting out loud.

But it’s this inner darkness
That’s holding me back some
Time ago it knocked me off
Track...

So many Dark memories
Flowing through my mind,
Making good times
So difficult to find.

I ask myself what can be done?
To rid these dark shadows
And bring back the fun.

Some say money might
Take the darkness away but its
A chemical battle at the end of the day.

Never give up this personal fight
I know the answer I have learned it
Tonight...

Yes it’s the chemical battle that
Needs to be won, to bring back
The light that’s as bright as the sun.

I like this one too! Depression is such a powerful state, very few can break its grip and remain free of it.
