The wind billowed the sails

As the masts groaned with the strain.

The timbers shook on deck

From stem to stern in pain.

it was a gale that angered the seas

And tossed this boat like a cork.

Many have gone to the bottom

Despite the crews hard work.

The waves washed over the decks

It was only a matter of time,

Before this tiny three master was buried

Unless there was a change in the clime.

Suddenly the winds abated

And the waves were also still.

The captain and crew were elated

That the winds had lost their chill.

What caused this sudden change

When all seemed hopeless and lost?

No seaman could give an answer-

Was it the prayers of Davies ghost?

Great story George! Been on a boat many times myself just like Jerry, but not working as he for pleasure. However saw the sea go bonkers when a typhoon hit and that was scary!

Great write

Ah, I relate George. Although I never sailed on a sailing ship, I worked on boats in the Gulf of Mexico for many, many years. Those gales can be pure hell.
