Something I wrote a bit ago, just needed to look it over about friendship. Love and Light

We can always count our friends

They put up with us

Help us when down to mend

Someone we can trust

We can tell them all our dark secrets

And they still stay beside us

Never inciting us to anger

But always have a compassionate heart

Like our pets, don’t care about appearances

Of course they are not our pets

But they accept us wholly and unconditionally

Sarah Ockler said:

“In your entire life, you can probably count your true friends on one hand. Maybe even on one finger. Those are the friends you need to cherish, and I wouldn't trade one of them for a hundred of the other kind.

I am truly blessed, for I have three

I once had four

But we mustn’t look at our losses

We should always be grateful

For that which we have gained

And we always should be that same

One and true friend in like manner

For something so cherished

You nary want to lose

As I have stated many times, true friends (and often, there may be only one), are a treasure. The theme you share via your verses is of universal importance, Carol. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

True friends are rare indeed. Thank you for sharing! I have a handful also and go once a year on Memorial day to grieve one gone on to heaven. I miss her, but know one day I get to see her again!

So few are real friends anymore. As a child I thought I had many. In my days as a young man, I thought I had several. In my aging days so few can I claim to be true. Time has let them slip away to mere memories if that. You are my closest friend.

Stay well and keep writing

Whatever it was that occasioned this poem to resurface I hope its fresh "look over" has been beneficial, Carol. We all need to count our friends from time to time, not as a headcount per se, but as positive thoughts which capture the whole of yourself and your three friends. You are fortunate having three, many haven't even that number to call true friends.
