Inside we remain ageless of the mind, only wisdom we have gained over time ~Lily of Lough Neagh~

 Reflecting

Time moves unstoppable even without a clock

Before you know young you are naught

Yesteryear whilst I was young

Told it was smart to bite my tongue

Embarked on my dreams

A fight all upstream

Never-the-less only hope did it seem

In my young mind, I did know my scheme

And it seems long ago

That young man that I was

And then I found her

I called her my love

Embark on new life

Her and I

Time marches forward

No longer we’re spry

But times have improved I suppose

Technology, things we never dreamed of

But I sit in repose

Telling my wife about many who chose

And just sitting here thinking

About all those old timers

Playing cards and drinking

Toasting, their glasses clinking

All those winters come and gone

Children all grown up

All those days of bygone

Look at me, no longer that young pup

Nope don’t take a clock to tick the time away

Here I am grayer, retired

I made my fair share of mistakes

But we all do then better we aspired

So if your winters you have not reached

My hope is that for some I can teach

Laugh naught at time

It’s not on your side

Think carefully my friends

It’s for you to decide

Regardless of age, all of us can have what our hearts desire if we put our minds to it. More wisdom in advice her.

We chose wisely Lily, but it was in a time we had to be careful with our pennies when pennies were worth something. This was a nice inspiration for the young if they listen these days. Most don't listen to us old timers they already think they know everything. :)

Is time with us or is time against us.
Wisdom only comes with the passing of the years and in many cases with stumbling, falling, crawling up and starting all over again.
And although our mind remains ageless, it grows every day in wisdom.
So let the young learn from the life lessons of the old and may the wisdom of the old guide them on their life path.

Great reflection with very much wisdom Carolee

Enjoying the phrases of ode ! Joining my classmates in our

we dreamed as graduates. Together we have come thus.
A reflective inspiration in your poem Lily.

We always, seem to say things after the fact--if only. The fact is we are older and our body parts are just as old. So why does our brain stay young???

Another great write, Ms. Carol!

The young already know everything only the wisdom of time teaches us that everything is really nothing we can only try to make the best decisions we can. So many many changes I would have made if I had listened years ago. Wonderful poem.

Stay well and keep writing

Sex change right in the middle of our affair. Drat!

JUST KIDDING!

You gave out some winsome advice within the structure of your poem, Carol. People, however, have a tendency to ignore such sage advice, I know I did. Still, if someone young reads this poem I would suggest them to reread it and start picking out the valuable lessons to be learned.
