I’ve found my highest joy,
And my deepest despairs
Portrayed in the Olympics,
Again. Getting too old for this..
~Oh, man, here comes Gabby!
Again! Uneven bars! Yeah, been
On them a few times, in my life.~
&Argh! I hate when I let life into my
Olympic experience!&
I’m watching athletes hopes crushed
Into a tangled mess, despairing of
Victory, tumbling into Olympic strictures,
Oh, wait, Olympians don’t have restrictions,
But I digress.
~ Gabby will be up, soon, so
Time to think on the length of life,
In different conflagrations. Soon
Gabby flies…~
&Jeez! I’m just the same as I used to be,
Nothing has changed!&
I ache to be the mother,
Who gave up everything, or not,
To a way of thinking, to raise a child,
Not just an athlete, into a Being.
~Yao Jnnong just super
Scored, so young, so sweet,
Athletic muscle-flow! Damnation,
I’m getting old!~
&And even if reform could re-form
Another’s life, the other
Wouldn’t answer..&
I guess I’m getting maudlin,
Like a lot of us do, during the
Olympics. Where have the years
Gone? I don’t remember..
~Holy crap! The uneven bars
Are more gorgeous than I thought!
And here comes Gabby!.. Gotta watch!
Damn! Two more to go, hope I last!~
&Just generally disgruntled, yet,
Happy, in a way…&
I mean, 13 Olympics have gone
Before me! Mostly me watching,
Sometimes not, due to current
Mental circumstances. That’s okay,
I believe.
~ Ah, beautiful Koko! What a sweetie!
Now here is Gabby, back when she’s done..
Oh… Gasp! My emotions include human
Collapse! The Other has won! Omg..~
&I miss Dick Button, and old coverage
Of , The Olympics, just because.&

Sometimes Gold
Other times Silver
At least Bronze
What really matters
in the end is that
they do their best

Oh, the agony of defeat (or was it, the stink of the feet). I don't know why I miss Howard Cosell. I don't miss Dick Button much. Maybe it was because of that nasal “gayness about him” that bothered me, even though I used figure skates as a teenager rather than the usual hockey skates most guys had. That didn't make me gay, just braver than most. But what's that got to do with the Summer Olympics? ;-)

:) I agree with Deborah, look at it this way... we are well-informed, experienced, been there done that and we can hope for the best of these young athletes...
Nice write :)
