Long since dead I still walk the earth

my spirit just will not rest,

I long to set things straight,

to show the woman I knew best

I was young and full of life

the world was like ice cream to me,

many flavors and offers I saw

I made my mark in history

Lusted I was by many a man

gorgeous but seen as " Dumb " too,

I knew how to make hearts quiver

but fame has a price I'll tell you

Powerful men wanted me on their arms

to be always waiting at their beck and call,

but where were they all one time

when I took a terrible fall?

Pills were a friend to me on a lonely night

forgive me, for sounding rude,

but the world never knew the real me,

when I was found dead, in the nude

A poignant poem about a vulnerable woman who was loved by men and women around the world. The pathos in her life comes over very well.

A lady of beauty to her inner peace I wish.
Wonderful tribute.

As evidenced by your poem, Marilyn Monroe still touches us all. I recently watched for the very first time, “The Misfits.” It was so poignant in the end when she saw the horror of wild horses being brutally captured for dog food and insisted that it stop.

I think that was really her and not Arthur Miller that wrote that into the part. She would be a champion for wildlife today.

Although a star, she suffered much.
Sadly as well, for she was a very intelligent lady

Wonderful tribute Dark Knight for the loneliness
this beautiful woman suffered.
