I always thought there were brighter tomorrows,

And sure enough there were.

But sometimes fate intervenes,

And tomorrows are not looked forward to.

Be that as it may,  each day is precious

And must be savored.

Do we really want to know what tomorrow brings,

Knowing it will not be as we planned?

Sometimes the crystal ball of life

Shows a murky future.

Not something that is pleasant,

But must be faced nonetheless.

Prayer has been known to change the future,

And I have seen that in my day.

So I'll say a prayer for tomorrow,

And let the Lord have the last say.

I threw that crystal ball in the closet a long time ago. Your summation is spot on.

"Be that as it may," . . . I miss hearing that phrase. And that phrase contains the other ingredients in this poem. I find calmness in these lines, and acceptance. ~~ Diana

You can work toward shaping tomorrow how you want it to be, but when tomorrow comes it brings its own plans.
